Labradorite Thor's Hammer
Labradorite Thor's Hammer
According to Inuit legend, labradorite contained the aurora borealis until a warrior smashed the stone, releasing it into the sky.
The Vikings believed the aurora borealis to be Valkyries haunting the skies, plucking the souls of fallen heroes from the field of battle. Vikings were known to wear Thor's hammer pendants. They believed that this imbued them with the strength of their thunder god.
Labradorite's association with the heavens makes it a fitting choice for LKFJ's Thor's Hammer. All of the labradorite is custom cut by Scott Empey to design specifications. The large labradorite cabochons in this pendant are set in open bezels, so it is reversible. The hammer hinges where it hangs on the circular bail.
